The time allowed for writing in the Junior
Achievement Program was titled “Journal Time.” Consisted of students
recalling their daily experiences and writing about them in narrative form.
A traditional writing process that used a question and answer format was
used to develop students’ ideas and content for writing.

English 101.60:
Language & Composition I
English 101.60 is a reading/writing course designed
to help freshmen that have trouble with both grammar and content in their
writing. The class enrolls no more than ten students, meets five hours per
week and has in-class assistance either from two undergraduate teacher
assistants (UTAs). The class is computer-assisted and utilizes various
collaborative learning techniques to ensure that students use class time to
develop, organize, and express their ideas in their writing, thus becoming
better writers.

Skill Review I
A reading/writing course that uses an error analysis
approach to review English fundamentals, including grammar and sentence
structure, punctuation, usage and mechanics. The course introduces students
to audience, invention, arrangement and purpose in composing. Designed to
enhance students' academic performance for other college courses for which
students are currently under-prepared.
