In-class Essay Prompt:

There are 3 requirements you must satisfy in your essay.

1.  Paying strict attention to camera movement, lighting, soundtrack, spatial relationships, props, etc., describe technically, using film language learned from lecture and Stylized Moments, the selected stylized scene from Psycho  which begins with the blood traveling down the tub basin and ends with Norman inadvertently knocking down the picture from the wall.

2. Argue your interpretation of what we see, that is, what can reasonably be said about what this sequence means--what does it communicate?

3. Having described and interpreted this stylized sequence, what can be said about what the film as a whole means, what it is saying?

Note: It makes sense to combine #s 1 & 2--that is, describe and interpret as you go along.
