The following table lists scholarships available to accounting majors
and indicates whether the application period is currently open.

STV 424 corridor. Application forms and/or additional information may be obtained
from me during my office hours.
Institute of Management Accountants -
Scholarships for IMA student members
The IMA will award six $3000 scholarships to sophomores for use during
the junior year, six $3000 scholarships to juniors for use during the senior
year and five $3000 scholarships to advanced degree candidates. Applicants
must be members of a student IMA chapter. Applications are due on February
15, 2001.
accountemps/AICPA Student Scholarship -
Scholarships for AICPA student affiliate
members majoring in accounting, finance or information systems
Two $2,500 scholarships will be awarded. Eligibility requirements
are: Declared major in accounting, finance or information systems; at
least 30 semester hours completed including 6 hours of accounting;
enrolled full-time; and AICPA student affiliate member.

American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants - Scholarships
for Minority Accounting Students
The AICPA sponsors scholarship awards of up to
$5,000 for minority accounting majors. The scholarships are primarily based on
merit, but financial need is a secondary criteria. Eligibility requirements for
undergraduate students include the following:
>>> Declared accounting major with overall and
accounting GPA of at least 3.0
>>> At least 30 hours completed, including at least 6
semester hours of accounting
>>> Enrolled as full-time undergraduate student

Pro2Net.com, an internet based newsletter that includes information for accounting students, periodically offers
$1,000 scholarships to accounting students. The scholarships are sponsored by
Pro2Net, textbook publisher Wiley, and KPMG. The application process is

National Society of Accountants
Undergraduate accounting majors with a B or better overall grade point average are
eligible to apply for $500 and $1,000 scholarships sponsored by the National Society of
Accountants. Application forms are available on the NSA

Government Finance Officers Association
The Government Finance Officers Association will present a $3,500 scholarship to one or
more senior undergraduate accounting students enrolled full-time in preparation for a
career in state and local government finance. Additional information and application forms

Farmers Insurance Group
The Farmers Insurance Group sponsors three $600 scholarships to Illinois State University
students in specified departments who are preparing for insurance-related careers.
A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required and financial need is considered.

Association of Certified Fraud Examiners
This organization presents thirty $1,000 scholarships
nationally to full-time undergraduate or
graduate students with a declared major in accounting or criminal justice

Attorney-CPA Foundation
The Attorney-CPA Foundation sponsors an essay contest with a grand prize of $1,500.
There are separate divisions for
undergraduate (20 page essay) and graduate (30 page essay) students.

Society of Women Accountants -
The Chicago Chapter of the Amercian Society of Women Accountants provides several
scholarships for women students preparing for a career in accounting. Applicants may
be full or part-time, graduate or undergraduate students but must have a minimum GPA of
3.0, at least 60 semester hours completed and at least one semester remaining to be
completed after the summer session.

Independent Accountants Association of Illinois
The IAAI sponsors three $1,000 scholarships to undergraduate
accounting students with at least a 3.0 Accounting GPA .

Department
of Accounting Awards
These awards are sponsored by a number
of companies and organizations and are presented in the Spring semester.
Award recipients are selected by the Department of Accounting Student Awards
Committee.
Accounting Majors: Awards are made annually to accounting majors
on the basis of academic performance.
Students may apply for an award if they meet the following eligibility criteria
- At least 72 hours completed
- A or B in Accounting 231
- Graduation date no earlier than December of the
following year
- At least 12 hours completed at Illinois State
University
- Enrolled for at least 12 hours in the current
semester
COB/BIS Majors: Several awards are
available for College of Business majors who have elected the BIS
sequence. Eligibility criteria include:
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Junior or senior
- At least 12 hours completed at Illinois State
University
- Enrolled for at least 12 hours in the current
semester
Diversity Award: The John Deere Diversity
Scholarship is awarded to an Accounting major with a diverse ethnic or cultural
background. Eligibility criteria include:
- At least sophomore status
- Cumulative GPA of at least 3.25
- Full-time student
- Legally authorized to work in the United States

Illinois CPA
Society 5th Year Accounting Scholarship
This Illinois CPA Society will offer 6 scholarships of up to $4,000 each to
accounting majors for the fifth year of education in a 150-hour program.
Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA. Application forms and information can be downloaded from

Illinois CPA
Society Scholarship for African-American
Accounting Students
This Illinois CPA Society will offer 3 scholarships of up to $4,000 each to
African-American accounting majors
who have completed at least two years of a 150-hour program.

Association
of Information Technology Professionals - Bloomington-Normal
Chapter
The AITP sponsors two $500 scholarships. Applicants must have completed 60
credit hours, be enrolled full-time, and have completed at least two computing
or information technology courses. Awards are merit based.
