  1. As the holidays fast approach, I am reminded of the hours that people stood in line to obtain the hottest toy of the season. The people fought, pushed, shoved and basically misbehaved to get the favorite toy. The individuals were primarily adults, and not children.  They were “collecting” the toys, rather than using them as toys for children.  Based upon your knowledge of social psychology, why were these individuals behaving this way?  Are these individuals mentally ill? How might we avoid such incidents in the future?
  1. Based upon your knowledge of prejudice and discrimination from class discussion and reading the in the book, design a program for the residence halls to reduce the amount of hostility and racial prejudice that occurs on this campus.  What kinds of attitudes, behaviors, and thoughts must you take into consideration?  What kind of behavior change must occur?
