Welcome to the home page of Bob Broad.

My full name is Robert Lavery Broad, which has a nice ring to it. That name also records my matriarchal as well as my patriarchal lines. Still, as an antidote to the stuffy tendencies of the academy, I've chosen to make my informal name (Bob) my professional name.

I am Director of the Writing Program and a Professor of English at Illinois State University, teaching graduate courses in rhetoric & composition, writing assessment, research methods, and pedagogy as well as a variety of undergraduate courses in English Studies and English Education.
