Position Title: Geography Teacher
Salary (nine month contract): $35,900 (B.S./B.A.) $39,900 (M.S./M.A.)
Responsibilities: Teach World Geography at ninth grade level and develop two follow-up geography courses for higher grades. These new courses might include a course about our state, the developing world, or some topical specialty (such as maps and globes). World Geography is a year-long course; the others will require a semester each. This person will occasionally also teach other social science courses and may eventually earn the right to teach Advanced Placement Human Geography, a full-year course that a senior teacher now covers.
Requirements: B.S./B.A. (with valid teaching certificate) in Geography Education. Strengths in History or other social studies necessary. Candidate must be student oriented. Internship useful in providing real-world experience. Ability to help students become better writers important. Bring clean sample of a lesson plan to the first interview.
