Position Title: Economic Recovery Specialist
Salary: $34,990
Responsibilities: Assess damages from natural and other catastrophes around the nation. Identify critical economic issues: infrastructure, jobs, health. Develop recovery strategy. Coordinate recovery activities based on this strategy. Interact with township, municipality, county, and other agencies as well as private firms. During a new hire's first two years with the firm, he or she will assist more senior personnel in performing the above tasks.
Requirements: B.S./B.A. in Geography or related field (e.g., Planning). Internship and other experience working with community problems helpful. Good communication and small group skills necessary. Bring clean sample of recent written work to first interview. Must be able to drive off-road vehicles. Position involves 30-40 percent travel away from the main office, and into areas that have suffered damage. Company pays all expenses while employee is out on field assignments.
Other: Smith and Associates is a private consulting firm that contracts with public agencies in sections of the country that have suffered a recent disaster.
