Welcome to Geography 310

FIELD GEOGRAPHY

Professor Michael D. Sublett

Field Geography challenges students to collect information from the real world, process the information, and report the results in written or oral reports. Some projects involve students working in small groups or as an entire class. In others students take on work individually. Most Field Geography projects require students to exert themselves physically as well as mentally.  Physical activity can range from walking through parts of the local urban area to navigating across a nature preserve along the Mackinaw River. Weather can be a challenge no matter what activity the class plans to undertake. Writing is always a major component of this course. In fact, most course points result from written efforts: essays, logbook entries, responses to classmates' essays, etc.  There are no exams or quizzes. Most students taking this course are senior Geography majors, but all that enroll must have completed at least nine semester hours of Geography courses.
