The 2002 ISU delegation at the Finnish Mission to the United Nations.
This year Illinois State University (ISU) represented the Republic of Finland. This was quite a change from the previous two years, when ISU represented The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The country selections are based upon the size of the delegation that the school is bringing as well as the background of the faculty advisor. This year's ISU faculty advisor, Professor Janie Leatherman, has extensive experience and knowledge of Finland that she was able to share during class. At ISU, Model United Nations is offered as a class, but at many collages and universities it is considered an extra-curricular activity.
