NGO Links The Advocacy Center for Human
Rights is dedicated to the implementation of full civil rights protections
for gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered people (the GLBT community).
Amnesty International is a worldwide campaigning movement that works to promote all the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international standards. In particular, Amnesty International campaigns to free all prisoners of conscience; ensure fair and prompt trials for political prisoners; abolish the death penalty, torture and other cruel treatment of prisoners; end political killings and "disappearances"; and oppose human rights abuses by opposition groups. Amnesty International has around a million members and supporters in 162 countries and territories. Activities range from public demonstrations to letter-writing, from human rights education to fundraising concerts, from individual appeals on a particular case to global campaigns on a particular issues. European Platform for Conflict Prevention and Transformation The European Platform for Conflict Prevention and Transformation is a network of European non-governmental organizations involved in the prevention and/or resolution of violent conflicts in the international arena. Its mission is to facilitate the exchange of information and experience among participating organizations, as well as to stimulate cooperation and synergy. The main goal of this organization is to build support for conflict prevention in general, and for relevant policy initiatives at the EU level in particular. In other words, European Platform seeks to facilitate networking; support (the establishment of) national platforms/contacts; encourage cooperation and facilitate exchange of information as well as advocacy and lobbying activities among participating organizations. In addition, the European Platform for Conflict Prevention and Transformation initiates catalyzing and innovative activities, educational activities, and media activities; enhances capacity and expertise in this field in Europe; and encourages transatlantic information exchange and cooperation. More than 150 dedicated professionals work for Human
Rights Watch around the world. They are lawyers, journalists, academics,
and country experts of many nationalities and diverse backgrounds. They
often join forces with human rights groups from other countries to further
our common goals. A growing cadre of volunteers supports us. - Human Rights Watch is the largest human rights organization
based in the United States. Human Rights Watch researchers conduct fact-finding
investigations into human rights abuses in all regions of the world. Human
Rights Watch then publishes those findings in dozens of books and reports
every year, generating extensive coverage in local and international media.
This publicity helps to embarrass abusive governments the eyes of their
citizens and the world. |
