Confused about what's going on in this course?  Concerned about whether you can do well?  Doing well, but want to do better still?  Want to know how this course relates to other courses, majors, minors?  Feeling personally confused or depressed about how this course is affecting your own view of life?

Some ideas about where to get answers or help:

bulletPay close attention to the comments written on study guide answers, essays, and exams.  If you don't understand, ask.
bulletTake advantage of the advice pages about how to write essays, found on this Web site, as they are posted.
bulletBefore you panic about your grade, make sure you understand the grading scale in this course.  Notice, for example, that 45% is not an "F", but a low "C".
bulletVisit me (i.e., Kenton Machina) during office hours, or make an appointment to see me.  Students are more than welcome to drop by, even if they have nothing earth-shaking to talk about.

                Office hours:  Tuesdays 1 - 1:50 (i.e., before class), Thursdays 3:15 - 4 (i.e., after class).
                Office location: Stevenson Hall 323E

bulletFor writing troubles, try having a friend read your writing out loud to you, slowly.  Listen as though the essay were written by someone else.  Would you be able to easily follow what is being said?  Does it seem completely convincing?  Does the wording work successfully?
bulletOne-on-one assistance with essay writing is available at the University Center for Learning Assistance.
bulletIf you have a documentable disability that requires a special accommodation in this class, contact Disability Concerns as soon as possible.
