bulletUnderstand the place of Kant's metaphysics and epistemology in the history of Western philosophy, including its continued presence in contemporary thought
bulletUnderstand the main outline of Kant's philosophical positions on key metaphysical and epistemological issues
bulletSee how Kant thought he could use an analogous approach in developing a satisfactory ethical theory
bulletUnderstand the similarity between Kant's position on the relation of empirical sciences to religion and certain popular contemporary views about religion in the contemporary university in America
bulletDisplay the ability to intelligently analyze and critique Kant's arguments for his metaphysical and epistemological views
bulletDevelop philosophical sophistication appropriate to the 300 level in dealing with issues such as those that Kant dealt with
bulletWrite coherent and organized philosophical papers that demonstrate the understanding and sophistication mentioned above
