[A one-point Engagement Item]
Milner Library
Just to get acquainted with the library a bit, physically visit the library and wander around in there.
Places to find
Suppose you want to find out some details regarding the various Study Abroad
programs offered by the University. What office would you go to? Where is
it?
You think you have strep. What is the place called on campus where the
University provides medical assistance for students? Where is it
located relative to the Bone Student Center?
You want to buy a new computer
monitor. There is an on-campus computer store
where you can get a “deal”. What the name of the store? Where
is it located?
You suddenly get very sick in the middle of the night, and need some serious medical attention. What's the closest hospital emergency room? Where is it located?
Mini research projects
(Stuff you should know about. You can get all the answers from materials the University has made available to you.)
You have a real emergency at home that suddenly pulls you away from campus for
several days; so you will miss your classes. (This is what we call a “non-medical
emergency”.) It would be best to contact each of your instructors personally (perhaps
by e-mail) but let’s say that is impractical – maybe there’s not time. What University
office should you contact so that your instructors will find out that you haven’t just
decided to blow off their classes?
You don't have a car to
get around town to go shopping in the evening. So you can take the
city bus. How much does it cost? How can you find out about
routes?
What is the last day this semester that a student can
routinely add a regular course to their class schedule?
What
is the last day this semester that student can drop a course from their
class schedule and routinely receive a WX grade for that course?
What
happens, though, if you drop FOI?
For which day and at what time is the final examination for our class scheduled?
What
is a university provost? Who or what is the provost at ISU?
Opinion question

assistant) named Margaret Graftin. You want to call him by name.
What way of addressing her is most likely to make a good impression?
| a. Hey, you | c. Graftin | e. Margaret |
| b. Mrs. Graftin | d. Prof. Graftin | f. Ms. Graftin |
