HELP

If you wish to succeed in the university, you must take responsibility for understanding assignments.  This means actively seeking information in dictionaries, encyclopaedia, on the web, etc. and doing everything possible to get help from others whenever you cannot find an answer to your questions on your own.

A.  If you do not understand an assignment or need guidance:
1.
contact me.  I am generally  in my office every day except Saturday.  You may either:
    a. write me an e-mail message (jhreid@ilstu.edu):
    b. come to my office hours, make an appointment, or knock on my door any time. I will tell you if I am busy and we will make an appointment.  (Watch out!  Not all professors like you to knock on their door at any time.)
    c. Call me on the phone (438-7894).
    d.  Talk to me after class.
2.
ask someone else who is taking the same class for help.  Often professors encourage you to work together on preparing assignments.  I do.
3.
go to UCLA (The University Center for Learning Assistance) in 133 Stevenson.
4.
hire a tutor.

B.   If you need help with your e-mail or netscape, you can:
1.
Ask a monitor in any computer laboratory.
2.
Ask someone else in class
3.
Contact me.

C.  Any student needing to arrange a reasonable accommodation for a documented disability should contact Disability Concerns at 350 Fell Hall, 438-5853 (voice), 438-8620 (TDD).
