Speaker: Maarten Bergvelt, UIUC Title: Quantum Vertex Algebras Abstract:
Vertex
Algebras are in a sense commutative algebras with singular
multiplication and with infinitesimal translation symmetry. When one replaces
commutativity by braided commutativity, and also breaks the infinitesimal
translation symmetry one gets (one specific type of) quantum vertex algebras.
Explicit examples can be constructed using bicharacters. As an application one
obtains the quantum vertex operators known from the theory of Hall-Littlewood
symmetric polynomials.
