My Thoughts on Nepal

This is a photo of Everst peaking out from behind Nuptse. This is taken from the trail up to Namche Bazaar, south of Everest down the Dudh Kosi valley.

I have travelled twice to Nepal, the first time spending four months in the country and the second time only for a month. I have traveled mainly in eastern Nepal - Ilam, Taplejung, Khumbu region, Lantang, Ganesh Himal. I have always meant to get farther west but have yet to achieve that dream. I lived with a family in Patan for a month and they were most welcoming of me into their home. The culmination of my first trip to Nepal was the study of the proposed Ganesh Himal lead/zinc high altitude mine. The project was still waiting for funding from the UNDP when I was there and as far as I know the project has yet to be funded. I will be posting more on this in the future, so stayed tuned.

This is Ama Dablam as seen from Tyangboche, site of the famous Buddhist monastary. This is certainly one of the most recognizable of the Himalayan peaks.
