David
Sackett graduated Summa Cum Laude from Illinois
State with a B.S. in Economics
and History in 2000. In 2002, he completed an M.S. in Applied Economics:
Electricity, Natural Gas and Telecommunication Economics. He has taught
introductory economic theory and statistics here at ISU off and on for three
years.He and his wife, Laura, also an ISU graduate
(B.A. English, 2000) have been married for seven years and are proud
parents of a three-year-old son, Noah and a newborn, Andrew.
Both David and Laura are devoted Christians and are actively involved in a
local church.
In addition to his
job as a lecturer at the University, David is a First Lieutenant in the United
States Marine Corps Reserve, where he serves as the Executive Officer for an
infantry company in Terre Haute, Indiana.
He spent
most of 2004
on a combat tour in Iraq where he served as a force protection officer for several installations in the Al Anbar
Province to the west of Baghdad. David is scheduled to return to Iraq
for a second tour
this fall.
